Friday Letter

Happy and Holy Friday
Instead of talking about the various school shootings, latest polls, latest innocent man getting shot down by the police I would like to talk about another issue and that is Muhammad (as.) from the inside a view that I don’t think most non-Muslims (lack of a better term) every get to understand and knowing this is a post I’ll try to make it as concise as possible.

It’s hard for non-Muslims to grasp the importance of the Prophet because other religions (way of life) may not stress the importance of there own holy people, at least not to the degree of Islam. It should be borne in mind that to us the Prophet is not just some guy who bumbled along and reinstated (started) Islam he is very much present in our daily lives. I’m not talking about present in the Christian sense but he lives on through each and every Muslim. All of our actions, habits, are measured by his example as found in the various literature that has been passed down to us, from the way we eat, sleep, dress, interact, court or girlfriends, treat our wives, and many other things that people do in the mundane. Muslims are or should be a reflection of him just as he was a reflection of the mercy of Allah.

It should also be remember that Islam is a family/community-centered way of life not in the “I’ll see you ounce a week” type of way but we see and interact with one another on the daily. Every man is a brother or an uncle; every woman is a sister or an auntie. If we are all brothers and sisters what does that make Muhammad (as) to us? This is why so many get incredibly insulted when people make up lies and slander the prophet this is were the community seems to fall short because that is when we should look towards Muhammad (as) the most. Muhammad (as) never retaliated against those who insulted him, lied about him, or did other things to him instead je would pray for them, when they got sick he would nurse them back to health, he even took care of a family of a man who was an avid enemy to Muhammad (as) and the Islamic community as a whole.  When we fail to show his character in those times then what are we showing the rest of the time?

I’m not sure if this helped or if its just long winded nothingness. Only Allah (may his name be praised and exalted) knows.
